The Catalina Underwater Video Rodeo is an annual contest organized by Freediving Film Group that is open to all underwater videographers who are interested in serious professional U/W videography. We are convinced underwater video contests, with cash prizes will be the wave of the future. You don't need to get on a huge boat and pay a promoter $3000 to get in on an underwater video contest. An underwater video competition is not only for the elite.

How many underwater video contests are just an excursion that you pay to go on? 

Some live-aboard dive vessel picks you up. You pay  $2000-3000 to take seminars with X, Y or Z famous dive videographer, and then you get to see your stuff published and your name mentioned in a magazine.

Due to the unstable nature of the internet, we cannot let the internet audience have complete control of the decision for the grand prize. There will be internet voting, and the internet audience will entail one (1) vote within the judging panel.
